COMET 252/P Photo: Fritz Helmut Hemmerich

Comet C252/P, captured today (2016-04-30) between 0:45h and 2:45h UT in Tenerife, 1180 m altitude. After stacking the subframes I was very surprised by these faint HII regions (unknown to me; perhaps someone can give me some information) at top of the coma and also under the near coma part of the tail (giving false red color to it).

Coma diameter is 37 ' and tail length about 1 degree.

Parallel exposure resulting in a LRGB image.

RGB: 120 x 45 sec, Sony A7s (CentralDS modded), Hyperstar 14"/F1.9, ISO3200, IR block filter
Monochrome: 40 x 180 sec, Starlight Xpress SX-36, RASA 11"/F2.2, L-pro filter
Both mounted at a ASA DDM 85 (unguided)

A DUST ANGEL NEBULA Image Credit & Copyright: Rogelio Bernal Andreo (Deep Sky Colors)

The combined light of stars along the Milky Way are reflected by these cosmic dust clouds that soar some 300 light-years or so above the plane of our galaxy. Dubbed the Angel Nebula, the faint apparition is part of an expansive complex of dim and relatively unexplored, diffuse molecular clouds. Commonly found at high galactic latitudes, the dusty galactic cirrus can be traced over large regions toward the North and South Galactic poles. Along with the refection of starlight, studies indicate the dust clouds produce a faint reddish luminescence, as interstellar dust grains convert invisible ultraviolet radiation to visible red light. Also capturing nearby Milky Way stars and an array of distant background galaxies, the deep, wide-field 3x5 degree image spans about 10 Full Moons across planet Earth's sky toward the constellation Ursa Major.

AURORA BOREALIS IN MOONLIGHT Taken by Laura Kranich on April 23, 2016 @ Near Kiel, SH, Germany

A weak aurora not visible to the naked eye appeared on last saturday evening over the Bay of Kiel.

The last image shows a relatively bright lyrid meteor in full moonlight.
