On the occasion of recollecting the Muons Detectors plates from lower chamber in the Bent Pyramid in Dahshour by the Japanese Team from Nagoya University, Prof. MamdouhElDamaty, Minister of Antiquities and the international scientific team of ScanPyramids Project will visit the development laboratory at the Grand Egyptian Museum "GEM".
A press conference will be held to discuss the latest progress of the project and the results obtained so far by different techniques, on Sunday 17 January at 10:00 am at Grand Egyptian Museum.
#ScanPyramids project (www.scanpyramids.org) was launched on 25 October 2015 under the authority of the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities and is led byFaculty of Engineering, Cairo University, and HIP.Institute, Paris (Heritage, Innovation and Preservation Institute). This project aims at scanning, over a year, some of the Egyptian Pyramids: Khufu, Khafre, the Bent and the Red Pyramids.
#ScanPyramids combines several non-invasive and non-destructive scanning techniques in order to try to detect the presence of any unknown internal structures and cavities in ancient monuments,which may lead to a better understanding of their structure and their construction processes / techniques.
The usedtechnologies are a mix of infrared thermography, muon radiography and 3D reconstruction.
