Aurora with a shooting star in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Picture taken on Sunday July 16 after midnight, the second day with a forecast of strong solar storm. As at Vancouver with a latitude of 49N, we are quite difficult to see aurora within the city as the sky is full of heavy light pollution. Just leaving home at midnight after see the aurora oval was so strong at Spacewether.com. We picked a dark north facing beach within city boundary and 20 mins driving distance. Upon arrival we saw green lights behind the northshore mountains. Setup the gear and began to take pictures. We were luck enough as the first 10 mins (from 12:30-12:40am) we had the best show. Left site 1:30am and back home 2:00am to sleep!
