COMET C2016 R2 (PANSTARRS) Taken by Fritz Helmut Hemmerich on January 20, 2018 @ Tenerife Canary Islands Spain

Comet C2016 R2 (PanSTARRS). This photo shows the tearing of a cloud-like tail and the appearance of very fine spiral structures, apparently due to a violent rotation of the comet. These spiral structures became visible in the integration of 30 shots (blue filter monochrome) per 120 sec (Hyperstar 14, Starlight Xpress H36) and 120 shots (RASA 11, Sony A7s) per 30 sec. Captured betwenn 22:20h und 23:30h UT.
