I like astronomy, archaeology, photography, music and drinking a lot of tea. I hate politics. Something that annoys me: that I shall not respect the permanence, and to take me by what I'm not. The best sign: VIRGO. The worst: the health. The best: adapt and know how to get ahead. SOLAR ECLIPSE Taken by Donald Gardner on July 2, 2019 @ Collowala Observatory, Andacollo, Chile
We traveled up a windy road to the top of the mountain at Collowara Observatory near La Serena, Chile. It was arid with many cacti and the temperature dropped to 58F thereby becoming quite chilly during totality as many birds flew out thinking it was dinner time. The moon’s shadow was easily visible from the mountain top and the horizon to the left of the sun was much brighter than the right because we were south of the center line. The chromosphere was an intense pink and quite visible across the top of the sun through all of totality as the moon slid from left to right.
The equipment was an iPhone for the cactus image and a Takahashi FSQ-106ED with a Canon 7D for the other images.
