The 24-inch refractor is Lowell Observatory's most iconic instrument. // David J. Eicher
Please join me at historic Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona, for a talk and book signing on Saturday, November 19, 2016. My topic will be “The New Cosmos: Answering Astronomy’s Big Questions,” based on the book of the same name published this year by Cambridge University Press.
I’ll be delighted to revisit Lowell, which has a special place in my heart. I spent 10 days “working” at Lowell in the 1980s, assisting my friend Brian Skiff with research, and I can still remember passing out early in the morning in the observatory’s then hallway couch, with the portrait of “Uncle Percy” staring spookily above me.
Thanks to Michael West, Lowell’s Deputy Director for Science, for this special invitation. Copies of the book will be available for signing following the lecture.
More details to come.
