AURORA & METEOR Taken by B.Art Braafhart on November 7, 2016 @ Salla, Finnish Lapland






It was actually time to go to bed, but the sky had cleared up, the temperature dropped down to -16C and auroras were massively present. Within 5 minutes a very bright meteor appeared just coming in the upper right of the picture.
The next picture (happily exp.time was 30sec.) showed something on the display of the camera, on the place where the meteor extinguished. As the interval time was 30sec. I saw on the next pictures slight differences of a moving spot. After 34 pictures, so 17 min. I dared to stop photographing. Enlarging the spots showed a kind of smoking gun: The smoke trail of the burned meteor.
