120 REPRESENTATIVES OF GERMAN-SPEAKING PLANETARIUMS AND INTERNATIONAL MANUFACTURERS OF PLANETARIUM TECHNOLOGY, SOFTWARE AND CONTENT MET FOR THEIR ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN LAUPHEIM

During the past weekend around 120 representatives of German-speaking planetariums and international manufacturers of planetarium technology, software and content met for their annual conference in Laupheim. The Association of German Speaking Planetariums (GDP) serves the cooperation and exchange of experience of its members and pursues the goal of bringing star theatres as cultural institutions more into the public interest. At the end of the conference, the GDP also awarded the "Walther Bauersfeld Prize" to promote innovative planetarium projects for young people.
The prize is endowed with 500 Euros donated by ZEISS, which is to promote innovative planetarium projects as well as project concepts which are aimed at young people and young adults between the ages of 12 and 18. This year, the Walther Bauersfeld Prize went to a group of students from the Augsburg State Technical College. The students had set themselves the goal of re-enacting the somewhat aging planetarium show for children, "Peterchens Mondfahrt", for their contemporaries. The students want to use the prize money to fully implement their concept.
