I like astronomy, archaeology, photography, music and drinking a lot of tea. I hate politics. Something that annoys me: that I shall not respect the permanence, and to take me by what I'm not. The best sign: VIRGO. The worst: the health. The best: adapt and know how to get ahead. LOOPING PROMINENCE Taken by Noeleen Lowndes on September 11, 2017 @ Gold Coast QLD Australia
The Sun was so exciting today, with this very active looped prominence on the western limb, the full solar disc shows how huge it was as compared to the size of the Sun.
The stunning prominence was also much more active and brighter at 9.30am (AEST) then at 11.00am when I took images of it with the ZWO CCD camera, which I posted earlier on today and by 1.30pm it had nearly faded away as it rotated out of view...
These images were taken with Lunt 80mm solar telescope and a Canon 700D camera with a 3x Barlow lens attached. This is a composite image, one set of images for the prominence and the other set for the solar disc. Both images were combined in PS CS4
