Egypt's Embassy in Belgium receives a Middle Kingdom Statue

Egyptian Embassy in Brussels - Belgium received a Middle Kingdom statue as preliminary step for repatriating it in the coming period… Declared Dr. Eldamaty, Minister of Antiquities.
Antiquities Ministry has made huge efforts in collaboration with all international concerned authorities in order to repatriate this beautiful piece and succeeded in proving its ownership and the illegal method of its transfer outside Egypt as it was an outcome of illegal digging.
General Supervisor of the M.A Repatriated Antiquities Department, Shaban Abdel Gawad pointed out that the statue was monitored during displayed at a Belgian auction house in 2014. He added that the statue is made of black steatite stone, representing a standing couple (man and woman) with hieroglyphic inscriptions on the base referring to the names and title of the statue owner.
