VITENFABRIKKEN IN SANDNES MODERNIZES PLANETARIUM WITH ZEISS

The "Science Factory" in Sandnes is a modern science center in Norway that opened ten years ago. It includes a planetarium with a dome diameter of 8 meters featuring ZEISS technique for the natural simulation of the starry sky. For early summer 2019, the modernization of the technology is planned. ZEISS will install a new fulldome system consisting of two ZEISS VELVET projectors and upgrade the SKYMASTER ZKP 4 planetarium projector with new long-lasting LED illuminations as well as a with a new improved control system. Thanks to the pure white light of the LED light sources, the starry sky visibly gains brilliance. At the same time, maintenance costs are reduced for the customer.
The new VELVET projectors with their starry sky like contrast create the conditions for effective inspirations. In combination with the ZKP 4 star projector and the new powerdome IV software, the world of stars and galaxies will become even more impressive and vivid for visitors.
The modernization also extends to the dome lighting and sound system of the planetarium. From summer 2019, the Vitenfabrikken's planetarium will be as good as new, as the participants of the Nordic Planetarium Association will be able to see at their conference in 2019.
