I like astronomy, archaeology, photography, music and drinking a lot of tea. I hate politics. Something that annoys me: that I shall not respect the permanence, and to take me by what I'm not. The best sign: VIRGO. The worst: the health. The best: adapt and know how to get ahead. ECLIPSE OVER TETONS Taken by Alan Dyer on August 21, 2017 @ Driggs, Idaho
These are views of the total eclipse over the Tetons, as seen from the Idaho side. The wide-angle shots are from second and third contacts, as the totality was starting and ending. The second contact image shows the edge of the umbral shadow coming up to the Sun. The shadow edge is much less distinct in the third contact image. The close-up is a composite of 7 exposures to capture the corona more as the eye saw it, but that no single exposure can record. It was through a 4-inch refractor with a focal length of 500mm. The wide-angles are with a 14mm lens.
