GEM’s Temporary Visitor’s Center witnessed a few hours ago the first session of the Second International Conference about king Tutankhamun. The opening ceremony was attended by a number of Egyptologists from all over the world and wide press coverage.
In his speech, Dr. Khaled El-Enany, Antiquities Minister said that this conference is expected to come out with some recommendations that will participate in opening new fields of research and study about the Golden Pharaoh similar to those of the last year’s conference that was held in May 2015.
This Conference, El-Enany added, is a great chance to discuss many issues regarding the Boy King pointing out that the final session which will be held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization – Fustat, will be totally dedicated to discuss the Radar Scan Project for King Tut’s tomb.

From his side, Dr. Tarek Tawfik, General Supervisor of the GEM Project said that hosting the Conference at the GEM is a good opportunity to show to the whole world the development of this important project (the Grand Egyptian Museum) which is expected to be partially opened in 2018. A documentary film on the GEM Conservation Center was also displayed.

A lecture about “the Restoration and Examination of the Golden Mask of Tutankhamun” was given by Dr. Christian Ekman. Dr. Fathi Saleh also gave a lecture entitled “ on the discovery of king Tutankhamun Tomb: A virtual Reality Presentation”.
