AURORA OVER ONE-ROOM SCHOOLHOUSE Taken by Alan Dyer on May 22, 2018 @ Majorville, Alberta

We had a surprise aurora May 22, when some curtains kicked up in activity for a while over Alberta and the Canadian Prairies.

The aurora was likely from a gust of solar wind from a current coronal hole on the Sun? The Kp was reading 2 but we still got a decent display, even in the moonlight.

Here are shots from southern Alberta I shot at the historic pioneer Liberty Schoolhouse, a 1909 vintage one-from school, typical of many built in the prairies more than a century ago. Moonlight provides the illumination.
