FATA MORGANA Taken by Mike Kelly on July 4, 2018 @ Stone Lagoon looking toward Patricks Point in Humboldt County, California.

We noticed these Fata Morgana mirages on a warm day (65F/18C) over a cool ocean (50F/10C). These rocks are between 8 and 9 miles away. The white smudge is a wave breaking on the rock below the visible horizon. Also included pics of the offshore rocks the way they normally look from the same location and also from Patricks Point on a different day to show the hovering smaller rock.
