LAST QUARTER MOON, MARS AND SATURN Taken by Peter Lowenstein on April 8, 2018 @ Mutare, Zimbabwe

The last quarter Moon, Mars and Saturn with some of the stars in Sagittarius were photographed directly overhead in the early hours of the morning of 8th April. The first image is a close-up of the third quarter Moon with a straight terminator. The second is a beautiful mosaic showing the relative positions of the Moon and planets Mars (orange) and Saturn (bluish). The latter have been enhanced using a star filter. Camera: Hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in night scenery mode with up to x 60 zoom magnification.
